Introduction

DCCDA is both a membership organization and a multi-service agency dedicated to the well-being of families and children.

DCCDA is the local affiliate of the National Association for the Education of Young Children. NAEYC is the professional organization for early education professionals, and those who support their work. You are invited to join this organization and support local services as well as ational advocacy on behalf of young children. Those who join the national organization will automatically become a member of the local Association. To join on-line, go to:  www.naeyc.org.

The local Association began in 1972 when a group of early education professionals decided that through working together, they could develop programs that would do more to help families in the community. They began meeting regularly to discuss the needs of families with young children, and plan the best way to fill in the gaps in available services.

They started by developing a tuition scholarship program that has benefitted many families over the years who otherwise would not have been able to afford early education for their children. They've gone on to develop many more services to benefit families and improve quality of care in Douglas County.
